The Internet is Beautiful

The idea for the Internet was born from the launch of the Russian Sputnik satellite in 1957. The US government was worried that the then Soviet Union possessed superior technology capability and could potentially strike the US with a nuclear missile. So it began to prepare for the consequence. The Internet essentially began as way to communicate if part of the country was destroyed.

In 1969 the technology was advanced enough to begin testing it at universities and the first successful test was completed between the UCLA and Stamford campuses in California.

It wasn't until around 1991 that the Internet was introduced for individual and commercial purposes.

Today we see more an more users clustered around the same sites. Facebook, Google, Apple and Amazon collectively consume most of our attention and that's sad because there is so much more to it.

Explore the website for a while and write a brief description of how you think it will benefit you and your classmates.

This map helps me identify ancient civilizations  in a more precise way than the maps in our book. You can also overlay other options on the map by checking the boxes on the left hand sidebar.

    I found the timeline of the Earth that might help me in Biology and In Global. http://timelineofearth.com/. The timeline can help me in Biology because during certain eras in time different organisms came about. This can also help me in Global because we are learning the different eras in time.

    i found a website that might help me in history . confrontingpoverty.org/ . we could understand economic hard ships and poverty and maybe try to make people aware of what goes on in our world. also we could try to find a way help end poverty

    I found https://paleobiodb.org/navigator/ which would help me with world history, biology,and geography. It tells you about fossils like how they were made, where they are, and when they were formed. It explains it in an easy way.

Privacy and You

There was a moment in another class when I realized that students are interested in the news and particularly, news around social media companies (Shout out to Patricia Smith for knowing about Cambridge Analytica ). So I dug up some good articles on the subject so we can all be more informed citizens. Please read the following and answer the questions in the Google Form. Then write a 1-2 paragraph reflection on the topic of privacy in the Comment section of this post.
